I have been looking forward to writing a purpose thought inspired by one of my favourite books, “I write what I like”written by the legendary Steve Biko. Where do I even begin to put into words the power of what this book represents.
I am so glad that it found me at the right time in my life, affirming a belief system I share about books, i.e., Books are also spiritual messengers. You don’t find a good book; it finds you at the right time.
I write what I like is a collection of Biko’s finest thoughts around the politics of his time. The grandest message of the book being the birth and advocacy of Black Consciousness.
My favourite part of the book was the ease and authority in how Biko used his voice to courageously influence the human rights conversations of the time. I was amazed at how someone can be so courageous. He infected those around him with Black Consciousness. To me, his life is the picture of a courageous purpose.
So, this month’s purpose thought is, purpose is infectious. When you are intentional and courageous about living out your purpose, you will notice that people around you, also begin to move towards the life-long goal of living a purposeful life.
